Description: This session features a 25-minute documentary on play-based learning, created by Regional Educational Laboratory (REL) Midwest. The documentary highlights two Illinois school districts that made the transition to play-based kindergarten as well as the evidence for this approach. Session participants will discuss the implementation of play-based learning, what skills can be learned through play, and assessment approaches in play-based classrooms. REL Midwest created this documentary as a tool for educators and parents to learn about play-based learning in early childhood education.
