Description: Please join us for a REL Central webinar discussing new research on teacher qualifications associated with greater student success in Algebra I. Presenters will provide an overview of the REL Central report Associations Between the Qualifications of Middle School Algebra I Teachers and Student Math Achievement. Presenters will put forth this new research in conjunction with evidence suggesting that student success in Algebra I is critical for access to high-level math courses. Additionally, they will cover background on the design and constructs involved in math teacher certification exams. Teachers’ performance on such exams was shown to be a significant indicator of student performance in Algebra I.

Audience: The primary audience for this webinar includes SEA and LEA personnel, representatives from educator preparation programs, and other stakeholders who want to learn about teacher factors related to student success in math.
