Description: The Regional Educational Laboratory (REL) Midwest, Nationwide Children’s Hospital, WVIZ/PBS ideastream, and the Ohio Department of Education are pleased to invite you to a screening of the documentary Healthy Students = Strong Learners. Healthy students are strong learners—it just makes sense! However, many students have trouble accessing even the most basic health care. Schools are uniquely situated to provide health care to students to alleviate health issues that impact academic success—and schools have taken action to provide this care for their students. This documentary explores school-based health care (SBHC) in Ohio and presents evidence that links SBHC to better academic outcomes for students. The documentary highlights efforts across Ohio to improve the health and academic outcomes of students in public schools through expanding access to health care. After the screening, Anna Miller, SBHC coordinator at the Ohio Department of Education, will facilitate a panel discussion, and attendees will have an opportunity to ask questions. Panelists will be announced soon.
Audience: Education and healthcare professionals, educators, parents, and community members who would like to learn more about the programs, tools, resources, and collaborative models available to support the development of SBHC programs.
