Description: A Community Math Night (CMN) is an extracurricular family engagement event that brings together educators, students, family members, and other caring adults to learn about, talk about, and have fun with math. In this session, participants will learn about the research underpinning the CMN, including the importance of and strategies to support family engagement in mathematics, and gain insights from presenters’ experiences planning and implementing CMNs in-person as well as in virtual and hybrid settings. Participants will engage in discussion and reflection on the research and its application, participate in selected activities from the CMN, and identify next steps for planning or supporting a CMN.
