Summer 2022 CTE Research Training Institute

Description:

The Career and Technical Education (CTE) Research Network seeks to expand the evidence base on the impact of CTE programs on student outcomes. The Network is now accepting applications for the Summer 2022 CTE Research Training Institute, to be held virtually August 1–5, 2022.

This intensive training will build the capacity of researchers to plan and conduct high-quality impact studies of CTE programs, practices, and policies. A cohort of 16 to 18 participants will learn from experienced CTE researchers and experts about topics such as CTE research exemplars and causal research designs in the context of typical CTE programs. Instructors will also facilitate data labs for participants to apply the statistical concepts presented.

Application eligibility

To be eligible for the Training Institute, applicants must—

  • Have some training in quantitative research methods (for example, linear regression)
  • Have experience using Stata and/or R for statistical analysis
  • Have a demonstrated interest in CTE evaluation research
  • Work in academia (faculty or graduate student) or at an organization that conducts education research (for example, an applied research organization or state agency)
  • Be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident

In reviewing applications, we will prioritize early-career researchers who have a doctoral degree (PhD, EdD) or are enrolled in a doctoral program and who demonstrate potential to conduct CTE evaluation research. Researchers from traditionally underrepresented groups are encouraged to apply.

There is no cost to attend the Training Institute. Those who are selected to attend and who fully participate will receive a $500 stipend and a certificate of training from the Institute of Education Sciences upon successful completion.

Application deadline: May 15, 2022
All applicants will be notified of placement by June 15.
