NCER's Summer Research Training Institute

Held in June at Vanderbilt University. Thirty researchers were selected from 180 applicants to participate in the two-week program, designed to "provide intensive training on planning, implementing and analyzing data from a cluster randomized trial." The instructors, who received a sustained standing ovation on the last day of the Institute, were Howard Bloom, Peg Burchinal, David Cordray, Fred Doolittle, John Graham, Larry Hedges, Mark Lipsey, and Ina Wallace. NCER's Caroline Ebanks coordinated the program, and Commissioner Lynn Okagaki and Director Russ Whitehurst spoke to the group.
