December 12–13

NCES and NIH's National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders will play host to a Workshop on Outcomes Research in Children with Hearing Loss. The workshop will highlight information the Early Childhood Longitudinal Study-Birth Cohort (ECLS-B) collects on hearing loss and hearing screening and evaluations from parents and child care settings.  The workshop will be held in Bethesda, MD.  (more info)

January 23–24, 2007

The National Board for Education Sciences will meet in Washington, DC. The Board will hear from members of the policymaking and practitioner communities; review Board subcommittee policy positions; and be briefed on the progress of the evaluation of the effectiveness of IES in carrying out its priorities and mission.
