First Release Conference—2007 NICHD-NCES Early Childhood Longitudinal Study, Birth Cohort (ECLS-B)

The National Institute of Child Health and Human Development will be sponsoring a 3-day ECLS-B First Release Conference May 8-10, 2007. Organized jointly by the National Institutes of Health and the National Center for Education Statistics, the conference will provide an opportunity for investigators to share research findings using data from the 9-month and 2-year ECLS-B data collections. NIH and NCES staff will jointly serve as moderators to the speakers and paper discussants for the conference.

**NEW WEBSITE** Regional Educational Laboratory Program

In October 2006, the National Center for Education Evaluation and Regional Assistance launched its new website for the Regional Educational Laboratory (REL) Program. RELs are committed to addressing pivotal issues involved in implementing key provisions of the No Child Left Behind Act, improving schools in response to state and local policymaker and practitioner requests, and working with practitioners and state and local policymakers to raise the achievement levels of all students in reading, math, and science. 2006 IES Research Conference Presentations Online

This past summer, IES held its first research conference. The conference highlighted the work of invited speakers, independent researchers who have received grant funds from IES, and trainees supported through predoctoral training grants and postdoctoral fellowships.
