IES will hold its third annual research conference June 10-12, 2008, at the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel in Washington, DC, for IES grant and contract awardees. Organized around the theme Education Research: What's Now? What's Next?, the conference represents the broadest assemblage of grant and contract recipients conducting education research funded by IES. Last year's conference was attended by over 700 researchers. This year's conference features plenary presentations by IES Director Russ Whitehurst, and Gary Taubes, an award-winning science writer whose current focus is on controversial science and the scientific tools and methodology needed to establish reliable knowledge in any field of inquiry. Registration for this invitational event will be available on the IES website in January.
