Allen Ruby Named NCER Associate Commissioner

Allen Ruby has joined the staff of the National Center for Education Research as the Associate Commissioner for the Policy and Systems Division. Prior to coming to IES, Ruby was an Associate Research Scientist at the Center for Social Organization of Schools at Johns Hopkins University where he worked on whole school reform for low-performing schools. He received his Ph.D. in policy analysis at the RAND Graduate School, an M.A. in public policy from the University of Michigan, and a B.A. in political science from McGill University.

Brian Taylor Named Director of Technology

Brian Taylor has been named IES director of technology. Taylor has worked in the field of computer and Internet technologies for over 12 years. As a contractor, he supported IES, developing websites such as the IES Members Site, Search for Schools, Colleges and Libraries, Create a Graph, and College Navigator. In his role as director of technology, Taylor will manage the IES information technology group and its daily operation of the IES technology infrastructure, including large web-based information systems and server architecture. Taylor holds a B.S. in computer information science and technology from Drexel University.
