The Privacy Technical Assistance Center (PTAC) is one component of the U.S. Department of Education's comprehensive privacy initiatives. This one-stop resource offers technical assistance to local and state education agencies and institutions of higher education related to the privacy, security, and confidentiality of student records.

Department of Education staff attend regional meetings with education stakeholders to share best practices and promote compliance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act. Click here to view presentations from regional meetings held this past spring.

Stakeholders can contact the PTAC Help Desk to get answers to their questions related to longitudinal data systems. Data managers can also request on-site technical assistance for their state to learn about best practices with longitudinal data systems.

NAEP Questions Tool Introductory Video Now Available

Now you can view actual student responses to NAEP (National Assessment of Educational Progress) questions, see how students performed across the nation, and create your own quizzes and handouts with the help of a new video called NAEP Questions Tool (NQT). This new resource provides a quick introduction to all the features of the NQT, an online database containing thousands of questions from past NAEP assessments.
