2010 IES Annual Research Conference: Connecting Research, Policy and Practice
IES will host the Fifth Annual IES Research Conference Monday, June 28 through Wednesday, June 30 at the Gaylord National Hotel and Convention Center in National Harbor, Maryland. The conference theme is "Connecting Research, Policy and Practice." Over 1,300 researchers, policy makers, and practitioners are expected to attend the conference. Participants will choose from 33 concurrent panel sessions and open forums in the broad topical tracks of Methodology, Teaching and Learning, Social and Behavioral, and Policy. Attendees also will have the opportunity to view and discuss the research of over 500 IES-funded grantees and contractors in three poster sessions. Highlights include opening remarks by Secretary of Education Arne Duncan, an address by IES Director John Q. Easton on the new research priorities for IES, and a plenary luncheon address by Charles M. Payne, University of Chicago, on the topic Making Research Matter in Urban Schools.
