Dr. Roger J.D. Chesswas

Dr. Roger Chesswas, Pacific Resources for Education and Learning's (PREL's) Chief Operations Officer (COO), also serves as Director of the REL Pacific and Director of Research at PREL.

Dr. Chesswas has worked in the field of educational evaluation for almost 30 years, of which almost 20 has been with the Regional Educational Laboratory (REL) system in three regions (mid-west, west and Pacific). His experience, both internationally and in the United States, includes conducting external and internal evaluations of professional development programs, uses of technology in teaching and learning, classroom interventions, and whole school reforms at the primary and secondary education levels. Dr. Chesswas's work in educational planning in developing countries prior to coming to the United States has provided him with an excellent understanding of the educational needs and conditions of the Pacific Region.

Dr. Chesswas has published numerous educational evaluation reports and studies, and presents at the American Evaluation Association and the American Educational Research Association annual meetings. Dr. Chesswas holds a bachelor's degree in sociology from the University of Durham, England, and a PhD in comparative education from the University of Chicago, Illinois.
