Description: REL Midwest and its Educator Effectiveness Research Alliance will host a webinar designed to share the research about teacher leadership as well as provide examples of policies and practices that districts and schools can employ to increase and improve teacher leadership opportunities.
The event will feature a presentation by REL Midwest researcher Elizabeth Barkowski, Ph.D., who will share the current research on teacher leadership. Dr. Barkowski will highlight potential gaps in the research and discuss opportunities for additional research. Then, AIR researcher Catherine Jacques will provide recommendations for how schools and districts can encourage teacher leadership activities and share state examples. Finally, Caitlin Beatson from Indiana will discuss what teacher leadership programs look like in Indiana—how they work, who participates, and the state’s vision for the future.
