1. What are the dates for the Fifth Annual IES Research Conference?
June 28 – 30, 2010 (Monday through Wednesday)
2. Where will the conference be held?
Eight miles south of Washington, DC, with convenient access to three major airports, the Gaylord National is just 15 minutes away from the nation's capital. The hotel was designed for the comfort and ease of the meeting attendees with everything under one roof; including restaurants, shopping, networking areas, a business center and much more.

3. How many people attend the conference?
We expect over 1,300 to attend the conference.
4. How do I register for the conference?
The Fifth Annual IES Research Conference is by invitation only. If you wish to participate in this conference, please contact your IES Program Officer. Please note that you must have the correct grant or contract number (expert data users will be assigned numbers) in order to access the registration and poster submission sites this year.
5. How much does it cost to attend the conference?
There is no registration fee to attend the Fifth Annual IES Research Conference. However, due to federal regulations precluding IES payment for meals and refreshments at any of its meetings, all conference attendees are requested to prepay a direct-cost amount of $177.20 to help defray the cost of meals and refreshments served.
6. Will there be a chance for participants to network during the conference?
Making new contacts, sharing experiences, and networking are important to many participants. During the conference, there will be opportunities to meet predoctoral and postdoctoral fellows, grant and contract recipients, and expert data users at grantee meetings and a welcome reception scheduled during the first day of the conference and during the three scheduled poster presentation sessions.

11. How can I submit a poster abstract for presentation at the conference?
Participation in the Fifth Annual IES Research Conference is by invitation only. For this conference, the registration and poster abstract submission process are combined functions and must be completed in tandem when registering for the conference. If you do not have access to the registration website, please contact your IES program officer for more information.
12. What size is the poster board surface used to display the poster presentation?
A 4 foot-high by 8 foot-wide surface will be provided.
13. What dimensions should I use to create my poster?
A poster that is 3 feet high by 6.5 feet wide (36 inches by 84 inches) is recommended.
14. Can I submit multiple poster abstracts?
To ensure participation by the greatest number of participants, we ask that you limit your poster submissions to one on which you are the primary author. You may, however, be listed as a coauthor on other submissions. Please note that the registration and poster abstract submission processes are combined functions and must be completed in tandem when registering for the conference.
15. If I am a coauthor of a poster abstract, can I submit a poster on behalf of the primary author?
No. The primary author must submit the abstract for consideration. You may be listed as a coauthor, however. During the abstract submission process, you will be asked to list all authors and to identify the primary author and coauthors.
16. Can we specifically select a presenter for the poster abstract?
Yes. During the abstract submission process, you will be given the opportunity to select the author (whether the person is a primary author or a coauthor) who will present the poster on-site. This person should remain the poster presenter for the duration of the conference.
17. Will IES provide audiovisual equipment to poster presenters during the scheduled poster presentation sessions?
No, IES will not provide any audiovisual equipment. However, you may request a table and electricity for your poster board, if needed.
18. Will IES provide Internet access to poster presenters during the scheduled poster presentation sessions?
No, IES will not provide Internet access. The cost is prohibitive. However, complimentary Internet access will be provided in the guest rooms and at the Cyber Café each day of the conference.
19. When will the posters be presented during the conference?
Three poster sessions have been scheduled for the conference. All posters will be open for viewing beginning Monday, June 28 at 6:30 p.m. and continuing through Wednesday, June 30, at 12:45 p.m. However, poster presenters will be notified of the specific days and times they are required to be at their assigned boards to discuss their research with conference participants. 20. Are there any poster presentation guidelines available to assist in preparing and presenting my poster?
