Dr. Robert Muller
Muller is Director of the Regional Educational Laboratory Appalachia and Associate Director of CNA Education. As director of the REL, funded by the Institute of Education Sciences at the U.S. Department of Education, Muller is responsible for planning and ensuring the quality of the laboratory's portfolio of research, technical assistance, and evaluation work.
Muller joined CNA in March 2009. Formerly, he was the founder and chief executive of Practical Strategy LLC, a small business providing public policy and management consulting services in education to government and non-profit organizations (2004–09). He also served as Deputy Assistant Secretary for Vocational and Adult Education (1999–2003) and Senior Advisor to the Deputy Secretary (1998–99) at the US Department of Education. Prior experience includes additional senior government positions and consulting. Currently adjunct professor at Georgetown University (teaching education policy in the graduate public policy program), Rob holds an Ed.D. (in higher education management) University of Pennsylvania; Master in Public Policy, Harvard Kennedy School; BA magna cum laude, Amherst College.
