UCSMP is a core mathematics curriculum that emphasizes problem solving, real-world applications, and the use of technology. The curriculum is based on a student-centered approach with a focus on active learning that incorporates reading and uses a flexible lesson organization.
As of May 2016, no studies of University of Chicago School Mathematics Project (UCSMP) Precalculus and Discrete Mathematics were found that fell within the scope of the Secondary Mathematics review protocol and met WWC evidence standards. Therefore, the WWC is unable to draw any research based conclusions about the effectiveness or ineffectiveness of University of Chicago School Mathematics Project (UCSMP) Precalculus and Discrete Mathematics to improve outcomes in this area.
