The Department of Education defines different “tiers” of evidence for education activities, strategies, and interventions. This presentation explains how federal education law and the Department’s regulations distinguish these levels of evidence. The presentation also describes how the What Works Clearinghouse reviews individual studies to assess the quality of the evidence they provide.
