The National Center for Education Research FY 2023 Awards

The National Center for Education Research (NCER) is making awards across multiple FY2023 competitions. Listed below are the awards to date from the Research Training Programs in the Education Sciences competition, the Research Networks Focused on Critical Problems of Education Policy and Practice and the Using Longitudinal Data to Support State Education Recovery Policymaking competition. NCER also partnered with NSF to fund a grant under the AI-Driven Digital Platforms to Expand and Accelerate STEM Learning in PreK–12 Settings, Theme 6 Track A of the NSF National Artificial Intelligence Institute Competition.

RESEARCH TRAINING PROGRAMS IN THE EDUCATION SCIENCES (84.305B)

NCER made four awards under Research Training Programs in the Education Sciences grant program (ALN 84.305B) to applications considered under the September 2022 deadline . RESEARCH NETWORKS FOCUSED ON CRITICAL PROBLEMS OF EDUCATION POLICY AND PRACTICE (84.305N)

NCER made one new award to the Extending the Reach of the Career and Technical Education (CTE) Research Network. Additionally, NCER made two new awards in the Digital Learning Platforms (DLPs) to Enable Efficient Education Research Network in FY 2023, one of which began in 2024 and was considered under the February 23, 2023 deadline (see * below). The total spending for these awards is approximately $4.5 million.

USING LONGITUDINAL DATA TO SUPPORT STATE EDUCATION RECOVERY POLICYMAKING (84.305S)

NCER made seven new awards under the Using Longitudinal Data to Support State Education Recovery Policymaking grants Program (ALN 84.305S) to applications considered under the September 2022 deadline. AI-DRIVEN DIGITAL PLATFORMS TO EXPAND AND ACCELERATE STEM LEARNING IN PREK–12 SETTINGS, THEME 6 TRACK A OF THE NSF NATIONAL ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE INSTITUTE COMPETITION

IES has partnered with the National Science Foundation (NSF) for a new funding initiative to encourage scientists to focus on research and development of AI-driven innovations to radically improve human learning and education. In FY 2023, NCER and NSF co-funded one award under Theme 6 of the initiative.
