Description: Join Regional Educational Laboratory (REL) Southwest for a free webinar on adapting instruction for English learner (EL) students in a distance learning environment during the COVID-19 pandemic. In this interactive webinar, Rachel Garrett, Ph.D., senior researcher at REL Southwest, will provide an overview of promising practices and resources to support remote instruction of ELs. Afterward, Brenda Arellano, Ph.D., senior researcher at REL Southwest, will facilitate a question-and-answer session with EL teachers and specialists. The practitioners will discuss ways that they have leveraged strategies and resources to engage EL students in remote instruction. They also will explain how they have collaborated with colleagues, and offer ways that local education agencies can support and build the capacity of EL teachers.
Audience: The primary audience for this webinar includes a broad national audience of teachers, principals, instructional coaches, district superintendents, and state education staff.
