About REL Midwest

Regional Educational Laboratory (REL) Midwest works in partnership with practitioners to conduct applied research and provide training, coaching, and technical support. Our mission is to support a more evidence-based education system. Learn more about the REL program.

REL Midwest serves seven Midwest states: Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio, and Wisconsin. To address the priorities and interests of these states, REL Midwest supports several research alliances and a networked improvement community, as well as other collaborations. REL Midwest offers various supports to the collaborative research partnerships and other stakeholder groups in the Midwest region:

  • Workshops and coaching iconWorkshops and coaching that support the use of data and research.

  • Reviews of studies and interventions iconReviews of studies and interventions to determine levels of evidence to support Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) implementation.

By providing these services and fostering collaboration, REL Midwest strives to solve practical problems and advance fundamental understandings of education challenges and processes.

REL Midwest is administered by American Institutes for Research, in partnership with the following subcontractors: Education Development Center, Empirical Education, Policy Studies Associates, Strategic Education Research Partnership (SERP) Institute, Social Policy Research Associates, and TRAC Research Group.
