Our Work

Regional Educational Laboratory (REL) Midwest works to bridge the worlds of education research and practice and build a more evidence-based education system. Our work includes facilitating research-practice partnerships; conducting applied research; and offering training, coaching, and technical support.

Research-practice partnerships

To address our region’s priorities and interests, REL Midwest supports several research alliances and a networked improvement community, as well as a number of other collaborations. These collaborative research partnerships help ensure that our work is relevant and useful to the region’s practitioners and policymakers.

Applied research

REL Midwest conducts research studies to address our partners’ research questions and provide policymakers and practitioners with the information they need to make decisions. Check out our publications to browse our existing reports and tools, or see our works in progress to find out what we are working on right now.

Training, coaching, and technical support

REL Midwest offers training, coaching, and technical support to build individual and organizational capacity to understand and use research in education policy and practice. Additionally, we answer stakeholders’ questions submitted through Ask A REL—a collaborative reference desk service that functions like a technical reference library. It provides references, referrals, and brief responses to research-based education questions through citations.

Each year, REL Midwest facilitates many events, ranging from virtual webinars to in-person workshops. Peruse our events calendar to find upcoming in-person and virtual sessions, as well as archived handouts, slides, and resources from previous events.
