New Partnerships and Opportunities in Kentucky, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia

Appalachia | August 03, 2022

As the director of REL Appalachia, I regularly learn about some of the most pressing educational challenges in Kentucky, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia. To create innovative solutions to address these challenges, our educators and leaders rely on a village that offers diverse expertise and experience. I truly appreciate being part of that village and, together with the REL Appalachia team of experts, providing research, technical assistance, and dissemination services to help leaders break down barriers. Our goal is to ensure every student has access to the effective teaching practices and welcoming learning environments they need to grow and thrive.

How do we contribute? Check out a few examples of how REL Appalachia has supported our partners in this infographic.

This year marks the beginning of a new five-year cycle at REL Appalachia, with new opportunities to partner with educators in our region. We are developing new partnerships based on local needs to:

Green Map of REL Appalachia educator partnerships
  • Build safe, caring, and trauma-sensitive schools
  • Accelerate early literacy success
  • Strengthen mathematics teaching and learning from early childhood through secondary education
  • Strengthen high school students’ preparation for college and careers
  • Develop resilient and supportive community colleges

We take our role in the village very seriously and appreciate the opportunity to partner with educators to strengthen the education system throughout the region, so it can truly work for all students!
