REL Southeast Event: Equipping Math Teachers with Content and Pedagogy for Student Success

Description: The goals of the workshop are to (a) increase educators’ knowledge of using the development of mathematical reasoning learning progressions to formatively assess students by asking specific questions to determine the domain in which students are reasoning, (b) increase educators’ understanding of how to make informed curricular planning decisions based on the domains in which students are reasoning and to which they should be progressing, and, (c) equip educators’ with the skills to utilize and sequence open tasks to differentiate so that all students have access to the curriculum and are appropriately challenged.

Research Alliance: Improving Mathematics Instruction Alliance

Audience: The audience will include mathematics specialists from Georgia’s 16 Regional Educational Service Agencies (RESA), district-level curriculum supervisors, and school-level teacher leaders representing some of their over 190 school districts.
