Description: Purpose: This project will examine the sources of the growth in the Black-White achievement gaps in reading and mathematics for 13-year-olds during the decade from the late 1980s to the late 1990s. Specifically, the project will extend and build upon the work of economists Cook and Evans (2000), who examined achievement gap trends in the 1970s and 1980s.
