Description

Early childhood educators serve many children who have heightened risk for language and literacy difficulties because of backgrounds associated with poverty. These educators often need additional support and professional learning opportunities to improve language outcomes for these children to contribute to their school readiness. This project includes multiple components for coaches and teachers, including web-based example lesson plans and videos of exemplary instructional practices, extensive workshop training for coaches, in-classroom coaching sessions for teachers, and self-study workbooks for coaches and teachers.

This project is for coaches working with preschool teachers and teachers in classrooms in select classrooms in Mississippi and classrooms throughout Florida. The professional learning provided to coaches and teachers aim to enhance participants' knowledge of how to implement evidence-based language instruction in preschool classrooms, provide them with model lessons and guidance to support teachers sustained, high-quality implementation in classrooms.
