State of Oregon

Oregon educates more than 600,000 public elementary and secondary school students in 1,250 schools. The state has three of the five most populous districts in the Northwest (Portland, Salem-Keizer, and Beaverton). Nearly a quarter (23 percent) of the student population is identified as Hispanic and almost 15 percent of the population age five and older speaks a language other than English at home.

Priority issues for our partners in Oregon:

  • Appropriate supports for English learner students
  • Educational equity
  • Equitable start in early learning
  • High school graduation and postsecondary education success
  • Supply and development of effective educators
