Sean P. "Jack" Buckley Named NCES Deputy Commissioner

Jack Buckley, NCES Deputy CommissionerSean P. "Jack" Buckley recently joined NCES as Deputy Commissioner. Prior to joining NCES, Buckley worked to improve statistical methodology in the federal intelligence community. He has also taught statistics and education policy as an assistant professor in Boston College's Department of Educational Research, Measurement, and Evaluation and at the Department of Political Science at the State University of New York (SUNY) at Stony Brook. Prior to graduate study, he served in the Navy as a surface warfare officer and nuclear reactor engineer.

Buckley holds a doctorate and a master's in political science, with an emphasis on political economy, public policy, and statistical methodology, from SUNY Stony Brook and a bachelor's degree in government from Harvard. He has authored or co-authored numerous articles, reports and papers, book reviews, and book chapters on education, public policy, and statistical methods.
