Training on Improvement Science Processes
Annual training is provided for elementary-grade teachers on effective writing practices and continuous improvement processes. This training prepares teachers to understand the key research-based components of the curriculum, identify where data indicate areas for improvement, and take steps in their own classrooms to refine their practice. Teachers then participate in site-based cohorts during the school year to collect data and engage in inquiry cycles through “learning huddles”. Teacher leaders participate in training activities that better equip them to serve as grade level team leads during the year.
