Laura Buckner
Program Associate/Events Coordinator

Laura’s work with the Regional Educational Laboratory West at WestEd centers on bridging the gap between research and practice. She provides coordination for in-person and web-based REL West events, designs strategic communications for public outreach, and assists with project management. She is also part of the California Rural Education and Health Alliance team, which partners with the California School-Based Health Alliance, school-based health centers, and school districts in the Central Valley to improve student health and education outcomes.

Prior to joining the REL West team in 2015, Laura interned with WestEd's STEM Program. While there, she contributed to several research studies, gained insight into WestEd's rigorous research processes, and assisted with writing and editing proposals, reports, and program materials.

Laura earned a joint MBA/MA in Educational Leadership degree from Mills College in Oakland, and has a background in working with nonprofit organizations as a program coordinator and advocate for community-school partnerships. She is also an AmeriCorps alum, having served with the Boys and Girls Club as an after-school education specialist.
