Research Associate

As a Research Associate with the Regional Educational Laboratory West (REL West) at WestEd, Min Huang performs quantitative research to improve the practice and policy of education.

Huang focuses on policy and program evaluation, statistical analysis and data visualization, and research methodology. His research interests include education equity, students’ college and career readiness, and labor market.

Currently Huang is part of two REL West’s teams: California Rural Partnership in which we work with California’s cross-sector partnerships related to college and career pathways to improve their services in their community by supporting them to gather, share, and use data, particularly in rural areas; and Salt Lake Collective Impact Partnership in which we support United Way’s Promise Partnership to improve all kinds of student outcomes using data- and research-based evidence. In addition, Huang is part of an Innovation Studies’ team (Math in Common developmental evaluation) and supports making sense of student assessment data.

He co-authored numerous research reports published and disseminated nationwide to education stakeholders, including administrators and policy analysts.

Prior to joining WestEd in 2007, Huang worked on health-related research and worked in an education institute.

He received a BE in marine navigation from Dalian Maritime University in Dalian, China, and an MPH in biostatistics from State University of New York at Albany.
